A Cool, Calm Corner

“In this four-season design, I’ve highlighted the corner of a garden shed and led visitors to its entrance using a mass of bright purple-flowered Rozanne, a spectacular late summer flowering grass, and a narrowly pyramidal evergreen tree. A wide gravel path punctuated broad stepping stones is softened by the low, spreading foliage of Ajuga Chocolate Chip.” —Susan Martin, MidWest Region Garden Design Expert

Description

This garden changes dramatically through the seasons. Vivid blue flowers on Ajuga start the season followed by the summer-through-fall show of Rozanne. The smoky purple plumes of the fountain grass in late summer, along with the purple-toned bugle weed foliage, nicely accent Rozanne’s the violet flowers.
