Paul Stringer has been a keen gardener since his early 20s. He is interested in propagating and growing rare, less common plants, often ones with spiky flowers. In a planting of Kniphofia varieties, one showed marked diversity from the others. Indeed, it was much different than and most other commercially available Kniphofia varieties.
Kniphofia ‘Elvira’ stands out for its exceptional brightness, displaying fiery orange flowers over a long bloom period. It’s self-cleaning too, as spent flowers drop away on their own. The variety was named for Paul’s wife, who loves bright colors.
