Susan Martin is an avid gardener who’s spent most of her career working in various branches of the Horticulture Industry. She graduated with honors with a Bachelor of Science degree from Eastern Michigan University. Afterwards, she worked in independent garden center sales while building her own garden design and maintenance business. Susan focuses on installing unique plants to suit her clients’ individual styles.
Later, her career advanced into sales, marketing and merchandising for large wholesale plant companies. This included over a decade of work in management at the largest wholesale grower of perennials in the United States. Currently, Susan is a freelance horticultural marketer, writer and speaker for trade and consumer audiences across the U.S.
Susan finds her calling in spreading the joy of gardening to fellow plant geeks! She credits this with a love which was instilled in her by her parents. People often describe her as relatable and passionate about her subject. Most importantly, she is great at delivering practical information they can put to use right away. She is a native of Michigan where she has been gardening since the age of four in both sandy and clay soils in zones 4-6.
